Ray Ruiz, Safeties

This will be Coach Raymond Ruiz’s first year with Saint Augustin Football.  Coach Ruiz has been coaching football for nine years. He started his coaching career under the tutelage of San Diego Legend and South Bay Icon Gil Warren at Olympian High School. Coach Ruiz was the freshmen defensive backs coach and moved through the ranks to JV Defensive Coordinator. Also, he was the Defensive Quality Control Coordinator for the varsity team.  Coach Ruiz spent the next four years coaching football, wrestling, and track & field at Olympian. In 2014, he moved to Eastlake High School where he coached for the next five years. Again, he was the defensive backs coach on the varsity and the JV Defensive Coordinator. Coach Ruiz also became a wrestling coach and the jumping coach for the track and field team. He hails from the Central Coast of California where he excelled in football and track and field. Currently, Coach Ruiz resides in Spring Valley with his family.  His wife Valerie Separa Ruiz is a resource teacher in Sweetwater Union High School District and district coordinator of Special Olympics Unified Sports. His daughter, Breanna, is a senior at Eastlake High and a three-year varsity volleyball student-athlete. His two dogs, Duke (Rottweiler) and Titan (American Bulldog), round out his family.
