The St. Augustine Boys Volleyball team is a member of the Division IV – CIF San Diego Southern Section and competes in the Western League, one of San Diego County’s most competitive boys volleyball leagues. Western League competitors include: Cathedral Catholic, La Jolla, Francis Parker, Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, and University City.
The St. Augustine volleyball program is respected throughout San Diego County for its winning tradition and demonstration of the core Augustinian values of Unitas, Caritas, and Veritas. Within Southern California, the program has proven itself to be a leading contender to win tournament and CIF titles. For the past two seasons, the St. Augustine Boys Volleyball program has played in the Division IV CIF San Diego Southern Section Finals.
In 2009, St. Augustine had two starters Trevor Salter and Garrett Ballard, named to the All-CIF first team, with starter Tom Pekin named to the All CIF Second Team. Numerous graduates have continued their athletic endeavors at various four-year institutions throughout the nation. Four starters from the 2009 CIF Finalist team are now playing collegiate volleyball at schools such as UC Berkeley, New York University, the University of Missouri, and Villanova.
Year in and year out, St. Augustine competes at the highest level and plays the top teams throughout San Diego and Southern California. In March 2010, St. Augustine will play in the 35th Annual Dos Pueblos Invitational Tournament in Santa Barbara, CA.
