St. Augustine High School officially received its Interact Club Sponsorship at the San Diego Rotary Club (#33) meeting on 9/11/14. Attending the meeting were students and Saints Interact leaders Luke Hazel ’16 and Sean Panish ‘16 along with their moderator, Ms. Rene MacVay. Also present was Saints President and Rotary #33 member, Mr. Edwin Hearn.
“Interact is a great club for Saints,” said Hearn, “because its mission is similar to Saints; we both want to develop students to have an awareness of and commitment to the service needs of the greater community.”
Interact gives students ages 12-18 the chance to make a real difference while having fun. Every Interact club carries out two service projects a year: one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding.
Clubs meet at least twice a month and are sponsored by their local Rotary club. The efforts of the club intend to help young people connect with community leaders, develop leadership skills and provide needed service to the community.
